STUDY OF WHAT’S IN FOR US FOR YEAR 2006/7

During the month of October and November the leading fashion houses for Bridal wear launch their new models for the year after. So right now most brides-to-be for the second of half of 2006 and for 2007 are on the look out for fashion and style.

For those of you who have already decided that they want a traditional wedding gown this might not be a problem because it would be the kind of dress that we have seen before and most bridal shops still cater for this kind of models.

However for the modern bride, fashion changes and she would be on the look out for the latest trends.

The trend these last couple of years were, strapless, figure hugging, fishtail, light coloured materials but ivory remained the most favoured, silk of all kinds, such as duppion, and double duppion taffeta, organza, tulle, froise silk, and silk Mikado. Lately there was the reintroduction of Linen, gauze, lace, embroidered tulle, shantung Mikado, and of course satin which comes in Milano satin, silky satin, matte satin and the lists goes on. So as you can see we are not lost for choice of materials.

Let’s take a look at what is available for us now with regards to design. I will go through with you what Pronovias have given us for year 2006. Usually they cater for all kinds of figures and for all tastes. Their collections run into hundreds each year. Let's go through the choice in their catalogues: strapless dresses are still on, long waisted dresses, high boat necks with or without long sleeves, beautiful flowers to adorn the dresses worn either on the waist line, or to give a hipster look, or on the shoulder. This year even asymmetric and halterneck are available. Beautiful V-necks, boat necks, horse shoe neck, and stand-away cut, but of course the popular off shoulder remains.

Luxury textiles are also available, which vary from innovative pleated tulles to metallic Lurex organza, silk taffeta and guipure lace. Explosions of flying tiers, cups, vaporous drapes, lateral gatherings and asymmetric layers. Generous round and pointed cleavages, v-neck and strapless bodices. Subtly proactive forms and surprising details such as trains with a cascade of shells, fabric flower appliqués and jewelled clasps.

The collections include two-piece designs with very close fitting bodices and figure hugging dresses that multiply their volume with a profusion of tulle and drapes. Deep décolleté predominate alongside halter necks, and backs are left open of brides who do not renounce sensuality.
